自宅PCの件、職場PCのメモリを抜いて差してみたら、動いたですよ。
もっともその前に、故障時に何らかのトラブルがあったのか、system32 配下の DLL が８つほど消失してて、（それまで出てたのとは別の内容の）ブルースクリーンになって慌てましたが、これはHDD復旧ソフトで拾えたので入れなおしたらＯＫになった。まぁ要するに、主原因はメモリで、そのあおりでファイルシステム上に障害が出たんでしょうね。
ちなみに、メモリ交換前のブルースクリーン時のメッセージは
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop screen,
restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow
these steps:Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmenation
or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration,

って感じで、メモリを正常なものに差したら

というシンプルなブルースクリーンに（笑

さて、メモリ逝っちゃったでＦＡっぽいので、近いうちに代替品を買いにいかねば……。新しい規格のメモリの倍以上の値段なのが切ない（泣
